FAQ - Use of Title Tag

Use of the Title Tag is one of the most important steps you can implement to get your Missouri S&T page to be displayed in search engine results in a way that is meaningful to your intended audience. The title tag is placed in the <head> portion of the webpage and provides a title for the page. This title is displayed in the title bar located at the top of most browsers.

The content in the Title Tag is also used as the first line in results returned from search engines.

If the title tag is not used, then the first thing that people who find your site see is "Untitled Document". This is seen in the image below that shows the results from an existing Missouri S&T page that did not use a title tag.

Generally the Title should be between 6 and 12 words.
